About
I offer healthcare narrative and editorial advisory solutions to independent regional health systems, select academic medical centers, specialty care institutions, and life sciences companies develop clear, credible, scrutiny-ready editorial assets.
I work with communications, marketing, advancement, brand, patient experience, and leadership teams that already have institutional priorities, brand standards, review processes, and communications or narrative direction in place, but need senior-level editorial judgment applied to specific written assets.
My work may support institutional publications, newsletters, service-line materials, patient and community-facing assets, donor communications, executive editorial assets, research reports, white papers, issue papers, and other value-bearing materials developed exclusively for the institution’s use.
What Healthcare Editorial Advisory Means
Healthcare editorial advisory is the work of helping healthcare institutions or life sciences companies clarify, structure, develop, and refine editorial assets that need to carry complex information with credibility.
That work begins with the asset itself—what it needs to accomplish, who it needs to serve, what source material supports it, what institutional context shapes it, and what review process it must move through.
This is not embedded organizational communications campaign support, broad narrative strategy consulting, brand management, or volume content production. It is senior-level advisory and editorial development for defined healthcare assets that need judgment before, during, and through completion.
The work supports your institution’s existing narrative architecture and corporate communications strategy by helping the finished editorial assets developed by me align with the priorities, voice, standards, and audiences already guiding your communications.
A Senior-Level Editorial Practice
I’m a graduate of Wellesley College, and my work has long been shaped by an analytical understanding of how institutional decisions affect the people and communities those institutions serve. That lens has followed me across journalism, editorial strategy, healthcare writing, research-informed reports, and advisory work.
I have spent over 20 years working across journalism, editorial strategy, institutional writing, and narrative advisory. My work has included award-winning business journalism, national magazine features, healthcare editorial assets, financial services writing, executive profiles, research-informed reports, and institutional publications.
That experience gives me the ability to move between research, interviews, institutional context, audience needs, and polished editorial execution without treating healthcare writing as generic content.
Scholarly Rigor in Active Practice
My graduate education and doctoral study strengthen the rigor and precision of my work.
I hold a Master of Professional Studies in Corporate Communications from Georgetown University, with a specialization in change management communications. I’m completing doctoral study at the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education for an EdD in Organizational Change and Leadership.
My dissertation examines how institutional narratives can diverge from operational realities and affect the audiences institutions serve. On this site, that research informs my ability to develop editorial assets that are grounded in evidence, context, audience understanding, and review-aware judgment.
Across my work, I bring the pattern recognition, source discipline, and analytical depth needed to help healthcare institutions develop written assets that are clear, credible, useful, and aligned with existing communications direction.
My Proximity to the Systems That Matter
I have navigated relationships with health systems and life sciences companies as a caregiver managing complex, multi-specialist care across fragmented regional systems, including a rural system actively losing services and providers, a university health system, and independent physicians operating outside both.
That experience informs how I understand healthcare communication. I know how institutional language can clarify or complicate what patients, families, donors, boards, and community audiences understand.
My familiarity with membership-based and direct-care models is not a response to a trend. I have understood their value for patients, physicians, and healthcare relationships since those models began appearing more visibly in the healthcare marketplace.
That perspective shapes how I approach editorial assets for institutions who may be communicating newer models of care, evolving service lines, or more personalized care relationships.
"Kaizen" as Method
The Japanese principle of kaizen, continuous intentional refinement, shapes how I work and why I chose it as part of this practice’s name.
In this practice, kaizen means disciplined editorial improvement in the form of clearer structure, more precise language, stronger source alignment, better audience understanding, and careful refinement through review.
The work is not about reinvention for its own sake. It is about developing editorial assets that become clearer, more credible, and more useful through a deliberate process of inquiry, synthesis, writing, and refinement.
Kaizen is not about making communications louder. It is about making the finished asset more coherent, more accurate, and more useful for the audiences it is meant to serve.
